General

Tuition and Fees are based on your school calendar and will be provided upon receipt of the Registration Inquiry Form.

A full calendar will be published before class begins.

Students will begin to learn to play using paper violins with dowel bows or small cellos with a pencil as a bow. They will graduate to real instruments and bows once they can properly care for the instrument, have learned beautiful posture, and can create a beautiful bow hold. Students will be sent home after each class with songs to practice, notes to read, and games to play. Instructional videos will be available on the Practice Space app to assist parents with home practice.

Parents will be responsible for acquiring an instrument. Intown Conservatory will assist you in finding the best rental or purchase.

Enrollment Includes:

  • Music books
  • Paper violin and dowel bow (violin class only)
  • Supplemental activity notebook and handouts
  • Access to the practice space app with practice videos, instructions, and games

Additional fees: $95 materials fee and $60 registration fee.

Enrollment does not include violin or cello rental or purchase. Instruments must be rented from our approved vendor. Any exceptions must be approved by the instructor.

There are no refunds for missed classes, but students will have access to everything they missed by using the Practice Space app.

Communication

We love to hear about your child’s progress and practice habits! Feel free to email at any time: [email protected].

We are always happy to answer any questions that may arise throughout the week. We may not be able to get back to you immediately, but we will respond as quickly as possible.

It is the parent’s responsibility to keep phone numbers and other contact information up to date. All students must have a secondary emergency contact on file.

Books & Materials

We will let you know what supplies are necessary for the student’s progress. We will share places to purchase them as needed.

Website Privacy

At times, we post schedules, make announcements, and write articles on the Intown Conservatory of Music website and across social media. Images and videos of our students may be posted periodically on the website, with your consent, provided in the registration form. Students’ music and recordings from studio performances may be posted on the blog for the benefit of helping other students and teachers, and to instill a sense of pride in the students.

Practice Time and Other Requirements

Music study requires commitment. We cannot stress enough that students who don’t practice are often discouraged that they are not progressing like their peers, and often want to quit. We are not just learning music! We are learning how to learn, delayed gratification, how to do hard things, how to appreciate beauty, and so much more.

We will send lesson notes and videos via the Practice Space app. An invitation to the app will be sent with your registration package. You may record your own videos in lessons, but any made outside of the lesson time will be in Practice Space. This is a game changer with regard to practice!

The most successful music students tend to schedule practice into their days and keep to a schedule, just like with school and homework.

Fingernails must be kept short for violin.

Food (including gum) must not be consumed in class or while practicing the instrument.
