Cellist, Cello Instructor

Mary Horst

Mary Horst has been playing cello since the fifth grade and studying music in some way since the age of three. An Atlanta native, she studied cello performance and psychology at Indiana University in Bloomington and at the University of Georgia in Athens. An active chamber musician, Mary collaborates regularly with other local artists including her classical-pop hybrid ensemble, the Ridibund Chamber Music Society. You may have seen her in the pit at the Aurora Theatre, Atlanta Lyric Theatre, and Serenbe Playhouse, among others. Mary also teaches a private studio of 30 amazing cellists from preschoolers to adults, and leads them in several community concerts each year. When she isn’t teaching or performing, she can often be found on her back porch watching her small flock of chickens or practicing cello while her dog, Dolly, sleeps under the chair.
