sTUDIO POLICY
Policy Statement: All Parents or Adult Students please print and sign.
- Tuition for Intown Piano covers a complete educational program including lessons, recitals, and teacher preparation time. See Tuition & Registration
- In Home Lessons are available on a limited basis. In Home lessons require that the family must have a good piano, tuned and in good condition. Travel fees will be added per trip for in home lessons. See Tuition & Registration
- MAKE-UP LESSON POLICY:
If a student must cancel a private lesson, the time is forfeited by the teacher regardless of the student’s attendance. Alternate times are very difficult to schedule. For this reason, only ONE makeup lesson per semester will be offered. An exception to this can be made if the teacher needs to cancel. *Make-ups will be scheduled for lessons cancelled by a teacher. Make-up lessons are reserved for emergencies only. We are unable to accommodate make-ups for routine conflicts (i.e. too much homework, birthday parties, sleepovers, conflicts with other extracurriculars). Please keep this in mind when scheduling lessons. In the event students cannot attend their scheduled lesson due to illness or an emergency, the lesson may be rescheduled provided the instructor has given prior approval. The instructor should be notified as soon as possible. If Intown Piano & Music is not made aware of the student’s cancellation prior to the lesson, the lesson is forfeited. If the missed lesson is due to a scheduled event (vacation, finals, etc.) the make-up lesson must be completed in advance of the scheduled event. Once the make-up is scheduled, it cannot be rescheduled again; if a student cancels a make-up lesson, that lesson is forfeited.
Make-up lessons do not roll forward to future terms, for example from fall term to spring, spring term to summer, etc. If a student misses a scheduled make-up, the student will not be entitled to a second make-up lesson. - A 2-week notice is required when discontinuing lessons.
- An 8 lesson minimum is required for summer, in order to hold the student’s place for the fall term. These lesson times can be more flexible to accommodate vacations and travel during the summer months.
- A $60 recital fee will be charged for the spring recital to help defray the cost of renting the venue, refreshments, awards, program printing and other expenses.
- A regular practice schedule is vitally important to the success of each student. Adult students assume a responsibility to maintain a practice routine appropriate to keeping up with the assigned curriculum.
- Students are expected to be prompt, to come prepared with all books and materials required for the lesson, and to maintain an attitude of readiness to learn and respect for property, instructor, materials, and fellow students. Students should wash their hands before attending the lesson and keep nails trimmed and clean.
- Parents or transportation providers must see that students enter the Studio and make contact with the instructor. Parents of small children are encouraged to stay on or near the premises during their child’s lesson.
- The studio does not provide supervision for children not attending lessons, therefore any other children must be supervised at all times by parents or sitters.
- The studio publishes photos and video of students from time to time. If you prefer your child’s image not to be used, please communicate that to us in writing.
*Ruthanna McAlister cannot guarantee make-up lessons due to her additional responsibilities as Director.
I have read and understand the above policy statement for Intown Piano, and upon payment of first month’s tuition am obliged to fulfill the full commitment as outlined herein, both financially, and in regard to attendance and student practice requirements.
